Fustration

The MZ-N420D can not directly record from any out put sorce such as a radio etc... It can however hook up through your computer via usb cable.. i have yet to set it up succesfully, as it is actualy quite a bit of a hassle. The software seems dated and wont recognise the MD's presence at all. I have tryed trouble shooting to no avail... Hopefully this was not a wasted purchase...I gave it a 3 star ratting for now until I can get this thing to work in which case i will change the review/add another...

Great to have mixable media for travel.

A recent review I read in PC Magazine where they felt the ATRACformat was noisy, not the case. A disk I started (using ATRAC) sounds roughly as good as some disks I dubbed using an MD deck some time earlier. Hence my decision to go with this technology as opposed to the FLASH RAM or hard drive based devices since I already had an MD library. It sounds pretty good, not great as it is a portable device and my ears are pretty good for such things. I hope it lasts a while because looks like Sony is...

Good Product

This is a good product. Not as good as an MP3 player with internal memory, as it is bulkier. But, it is great for the price. The only drawback is, it is somewhat larger than a player with internal memory. Running with it can be uncomfortable at times...if you are a runner, you may prefer a smaller mp3 player, one you can put in your shorts pocket.......

Love this Player!!!

My husband has the white one ($99). He has had his for a year and loves it. I got this one(blue - its cheaper, but the same model) for myself with some birthday giftcards from amazon. I love this. It does not skip or anything. I does take a little while to burn the music, not just drop/drag/ and go. But it makes up for that when you can put the number of songs on it that will last you for ever. And add to it the fact that the battery lasts a lot longer than in other players. My husband and I went...

Both wrong

Ok, first off the MD player does not convert your existing MP3s on your hardrive to a new format on said same hard drive, but only when transfering to the player itself. The format the player uses isn't called alltrack but ATRAC3 (Adaptive TRansform Acoustic Coding).[...]ATRAC of course is a proprietary format that is in compitition with MP3 and any music you download from [...] site will be in that format, howeverI will restate that it is the player that does the conversion not the software on...
