Compact SLR Value Pack Customer Reviews
Does not include camera, case only with book and filters
-
Okay so I'm ignorant about cameras. I probably should have done some research and then I would have known that there was no way you could buy a Nikon camera with a nice case for $49.99 but if you click on the photo above you will see different views of the camera. Also if you read the product description and the tech data you would think you were getting a camera. So today my order arrived. It was a nice Nikon case, with a user's guide, and a round plastic container of filters. I talked to a Onecall customer rep and he confirmed that the SLR value kit does not contain a camera. So for any of you newbies out there who think you might want to buy this "camera" think again. I will say if you want a nice pricey camera case, this one looks pretty good. But it's going back to OneCall tomorrow. I am giving it 5 stars because it is a nice case and it's not OneCall's fault that it is misrepresented here.

N75 is Body Only in Black
-
The N75 is a great new camera from Nikon which is really a small step down from the N80 in features and performance. The small body size is similar to the N55 and is easy to handle with well placed controls and dials. The build quality is typical Nikon and quite solid. There are subtle extras, such as depth of field preview, that seem to be omitted from most SLRs these days. And the metal lens attachment is a nice upgrade from the plastic versions on my previous "entry level" cameras from Canon and Nikon.
I like the way the camera balances in my hand with all controls easily reached with the camera up to your eye.My only complaint - the model listed here is actually incorrectly listed - the unit I received is a black body with Quartz dateback, without lens, battery or strap. The description provided by Amazon is misleading and should be corrected. It also seems to be overpriced versus the kit version which they also sell via J&R. Go for the kit version as the 28-80 zoom is pretty decent and well made. I have not seen a big difference yet between the N55 metering and the new 25 segment 3-D matrix offered by the N75. If you like to take pictures, and want a variety of auto exposure modes + manual, this is a good choice. I did not penalize Nikon or the N75 for the misrepresentation made by Amazon on this item hence the 5 stars. I highly recommend the N75, just make sure you select the kit unless you want the black body only QD version at a high price.
