RCA RM2100 MSNTV Internet Receiver Customer Reviews
E Mail Only
-
Look folks the Bill Clinton era is over. Why pay 21.95 just for e mail machine and to do a few out dated HTML codes. If you don't want to pay 199$ for the RCA4100,ante up another 150$ and get a cheap computer.I gave my old door stop to a friend. The 2100 has outlived it's usefulness. So don't waste your hard earned $$$.

Good But Could Be A Little Better!.
-
We originally had one of the old Plus receiversand I loved it and that I could watch TV while online but it broke and I found out that they weren't making them anymore so I had to buy this classic receiver and while I do enjoy using it I can't help feeling that I downgraded. Another thing I don't care for with this basic classic receiver is the power cord, it's an adapter that you plug in an outlet or surge protector which is fine but the end that goes into the MSN TV is like a tiny earphone jack on a portatble walkman tape player and the adapter gets hot and makes a loud buzzing or humming noise if the MSN TV receiver is on for over an hour or more and I much preferred the sturdier power cord for the Plus receiver. Please someone start making the plus receivers again, I liked the plus receiver so much that I didn't mind that the monthy fee for the plus service was a little bit more than the classic service. I do like the MSNTV service though and I like that they let you have six email screen names which makes it great for members of a family to have their own email addresses. I know that 6 seperate email addresses is alot but honesly I wish that they would add more. It would be great to have at least 10 but realisticly I would be fine with just 8.

We have computers and I know how to use them and I also have an MSN TV Internet receiver and even though we aren't doing it right now you can combine your MSN service on both your computer and MSN TV. I enjoy using the MSN TV and I actually prefer using this instead of our fritzy lap top computer. We originally had the old Web TV Plus Internet receiver and I loved using it but it was zapped by lightening and it burned out the modem and unfortunately they aren't being made anymore so I had to buy this classic model and though I still prefer the advantages of the plus receiver with getting TV updates I also like this classic receiver.

Wonderful Internet TV Unit but Sucky Service!
-
I have this MSNTV Unit and I like it. I got it after my computer crapped out and I bought this because I couldn't afford a new computer and this was much more afforable to me and I love the ease of it and I don't mind that there are certain things I can't do. As long as I can send and recieve email and go to Amazon I'm a happy camper!
My only complaint with MSNTV is with the tech support and customer service.
If you call tech support which is susposed to handle question about both computers using MSN service and windows as well as questions about MSNTV and the person I spoke too didn't even know what MSN TV was. I mean That is just so wrong!
Customer service is a joke too! Almost every time I have called to ask a question the Customer Service repesentitive who I got was a woman with a deep voice who is very rude and condescening and when I asked her a question about recent changes made to the servive she acted as though my questions were dumb and that I
was wasting her time and even openly laughed at me in a very condescending way.
Another time I spoke to a guy who was very pleasant so I think that MSN needs to do something like have some of the people from customer service take a couse in manners and sensitivity and to make sure their tech support know what a MSN TV is!
5 stars for the MSN TV unit and the ease of using it but sadly I must take points off for mostly sucky customer service and support!8/1/2005 12:00 AM | Rating:

Great set-top computer!..or is it?

If your wanting to surf the internet without the hassle of a PC, then this is the device for you.I have been a msntv owner for 4 years and the RM2100 is a great way to explore the web.The machine itself is very reliable, sometimes msn has it's slow moments but don't most servers at one time or another.Plus you can't get any of the viruses that PC's get. You can surf with peace of mind. You will never need spyware with msntv. And, no one can ever hack a msntv account..very important these days.Once you get the RM2100 out of the box, you are only minutes away from years of enjoyment. It also only takes about 30 seconds to log on to msn and one botton to get off line.In fact...I have 2 LBB (little black boxes)...one is the PM 965, and now the RM2100, so I have a back up just in case.If you want to surf the net, this is for you. If you want more bells and whistles (and headaches) then save your $$$ for a PC./update/ It's been a while since I wrote this and I have now decided NOT to recommend msntv or the failed msntv2. It's getting where a msntv user can't get into any good websites! You can look but you can't touch. And it's getting worse, their outdated browser is a joke. So...I have bought a new Dell laptop and with it I can open all the doors that are shut with the msntv service *laughs*Good bye msn and msntv.*waves*
