High quality Item well worth the money!
This CD/DVD shredder made quick work of the 150+ data CD's and DVD's I burned for both personal and business use.My 6 year old son had great fun feeding them in as fast as he could and the machine was able to keep right up with him, it's fast.Out of curiosity upon recieveing the product I feed a CD through I had burned some time ago.After one pass through it was clearly unreadable, I was convinced!This product is of high quality.It creates no mess as the CD's pass through and is heavy duty enough...

Not a Shredder!
I should have read the reviews before buying. This device is not a shredder in any sense. It does not shred! It makes some pits on the data side to make it harder to read, but leaves the actual data layer fully intact! How can you call this device a shredder?!? A complete rip off, and offers virtually no security....

Great Idea. But it could be better...
When I bought this product I was initially expecting a real CD shredder. Before actually receiving it, I read the item description again and then I understood my CD/DVDs wouldn't be destroyed, but impossible to read instead... I did some tests after receiving the unit and couldn't read any of the "destroyed" CDs, so in other words, it actually works !!! I really liked it and would definately recommend it, although I still break the CDs in half before getting rid of them (as a double precaution)...

I was dubious but it seems to work
I bought one of these to use at work to shred not only sensitive data but outdated software CDs before discarding them. I was dubious that the waffle-like pattern this shredder impresses into the surface could render the CD unreadable but I tried reading several CDs that I had run through the device and could not read any of them. I examined one of them with a microscope and found that the indents (yes they are indents, not ridges) actually go deep enough to make small tears in the reflective layer...
