Product Description
Other highlights include 24-track programming, Panasonic's X-SBS bass boost, lightweight headphones, and a hold function that saves battery life by preventing accidental turn-on. Hold also locks the unit in an uninterruptible play mode if this is desired.
The player's sound is warm and easy, but the headphones project a slightly hooded quality we hear with vocals. In addition, the X-SBS bass boost cannot be defeated--an option that we definitely miss. Even with X-SBS, bass isn't overpowering. Nor does the SLSX270 play as loudly as other portables we've tested--but it was still loud enough for us!
Two AA batteries have a healthy 28-hour lifespan, even with antishock engaged, and the supplied AC adapter helps prolong battery life while you're listening at home.
All in all, Panasonic's SLSX270 is loads of fun and a terrific value, underlined by a generous one-year warranty. This is one portable CD player that's all substance and no flash. --Wayne Garcia

Beware Audiobook Listeners.
This is fine for listening to music cds, it has a good anti-shock feature that prevents skipping. The earphones that come with it are trash, the sound quality is horrible, I switched my sony earphones on it and it was a huge difference.I bought this specifically to listen to audiobooks.MISTAKE!Yes, it has a resume feature where it "saves" your place - kind of.Some players save your place in the exact spot where you left off.Not this model, it will only save your place at the beginning of the chapter...

Great CD Player
This Panasonic cd player is great.I got one for Christmas two or three years ago and it worked flawlessly all the time.It doesn't skip at all when the anti-shock is turned on.The volume is also quite good as it provides a wide range. It plays soft but can get very loud especially compared to most cd players I have used. The shame of it is I have accidently dropped it too many times and it will no longer play anything. The bottom line is if you want a cd player that will work to perfection during normal...

Beats Even the More Expensive CD Players Out There
The first time I used this Panasonic was when I met up with a friend of mine and I asked him what CD he was listening to. He handed me the player and my first thought was "Wow, this thing is pretty light." Then I shook it a bit and turned it upside down and even without the amazing 40 second shock protection, it didn't skip.Since then I've always thought of the Panasonic SL-SX270 as an amazing CD player. I've used many other CD players, including some high-tech, $$$ ones from Sony and other big...

Good While it Lasts
A couple of years ago, I was at the airport, about to depart on a trip, when I realized I packed my music, but forgot to pack my CD player. So I bought one.It turned out to be this one, and I liked it right away. The anti-shock function, the Random and Resume features, and the Hold feature alone are enough to warrant buying it.The S-XBS feature, IMHO, *MUST* be used if the sound is going to be worth it.This player has made many trips with me, across country, as well as back and forth to work and the...
